After last weeks slower sales most of the consoles have peaked back up again. The closet competition to Nintendo remains to be the PSP which is selling solidly, but unfortunately not in the same league as the DS Lite. At this rate is seems like the consoles won’t be switching places, at least for the summer months. While the huge blockbuster games in the Fall will certainly shake a few things up, we’ll have to wait until the Holiday to see if any of the consoles can gain or lose steam.
- DS Lite: 127,461
- Wii: 58,644
- PSP: 26,097
- PS2: 11,311
- PS3: 9,627
- Xbox 360: 2,044

1Only 10,000 PS3 consoles sold? I remember when they sold 30,000 a week and and I found that shocking… And only 10,000, despite the PS3 being a lot cheaper in Japan than in U.S. and Europe.

3Whats so great bout the DS? they’re literally no games for it. I should know, I bought and bought the mod chip to play 60 games and I found more games like DOOM on the advance and other titles on this chip instead of real interesting games. Its still cool how they can make a small handheld though.

4…. Yeah, because Hunters, Super Mario DS 64, Pokemon, Mario Kart DS, Super Mario Bros DS, are literally no games.

5Those games are crap. I said no games, its all kiddy games for me. I was talking bout me,LOL mario and Pokemon isnt something im gonna sit there and play. Im more of a sports/racing/FPS and RTS gamers. Having a gay plummer jumping on stuff doesnt please me. Maybe Japan has better software than us.

6As said Metroid Prime Hunters is a pretty serious game. Also there are a couple of FPS on the way. And there are also the Final Fantasy games coming to DS now. And The Settlers, Sim City and Anno 1701 are coming very soon.

7There are many serious / non”kiddy” (you’re too elite for those i assume, graphics = intelligence does it?) out for the DS. I suggest you look further than the toy shop you visit.

8I like Hunters. The graphics aren’t bad, it’s a nice shooter with the stylus, the multiplayer is massively improved over Echoes.

9WTF is ur problem ZAC? you dont have to be a @#$ okay. I said for me they’re no games that interest me and many other people I know. I’m neither a fanboy of the PSP or the DS but the PSP has better games and features it. Honestly, Handheld’s are for kid’s IMO. All I said was I bought a modded DS and went to get games on it and found more of the games I downloaded were the reg gameboy and the Advance games.
Yeah the gameboy is an awesome little console for kids, but jumping on boxes and big ants or whatever they’re in marion isnt my thing. Nothing to be leet about me playing game’s. I’ve looked up so much and only metrio and a few ranked 8 or higher. It’s like buying a playstation 3. I wouldnt want it cuz only socom and MGS are the only ones that arent multiplatform.
I didnt mean to sound like an ass or anything. I was just amazed it sold so well. Was insulting it, saying it was bad. I just think they’re only a very few selection of games out.

10If it’s IYO than that’s all ok. I meant that for someone who’s into games regardless of their intended audience, the DS has a lot to offer. That’d be a reason it’s selling so well. As well as the “my friend has one so I’m going to get one too” factor. The most popular thing nearly always remains the most popular simply because people know about it.

11i agree with wickerman, too many kiddy games for the ds. thankfully though, the summer and fall of this year is seeing loads of really good ds games, i’m not sure if i’ll even have the money or time to play all the ones i want to get.

13To Zac, Yeah it’s a great little device for the hardcore gaming audience. I basically bought for my son that was born LOL. I saw this guy mod it with this chip called the R4 chip. This chip can fit around 30-60 DS games, plays movies and music. Don’t get me wrong if I were still in middle school taking the bus everyday I would jump all over it.
Dont get me wrong here, I think it’s amazing how they basically took a big N64 to play games in the palm of your hand. Same with the PSP! Now, we have to see what MS is cooking up with their xbox180 gaming out.
