Final Fantasy to remain Exclusive
June 5th, 2007 by Brian Lockhart in PlayStation 3, RPG, Software, Xbox360
Poor, poor 360. Maybe if more Japanese folks liked you as much as we do in North America, you’d have another console exclusive stolen away. Not that you can really complain with Devil May Cry now under your regieme. It seems the rumors have finally be quelled and the Xbox 360 will not be receiving one of the numbered Final Fantasy games. The director of the series had this to say on the matter.
“For the Wii, we have FF Crystal Chronicles in production,” replied Hashimoto. “As for FF on the Xbox 360, it’s currently a completely blank page.”
Read it how you may, but if the 360 is a completely blank page, there is nothing to report. That doesn’t rule out things in the future, but no products currently in development can be expected. It’s really not a surprise. Final Fantasy really only has two possible homes. It could stay on PS3, or head to Nintendo. Neither of which can really be cross ported. Xbox 360 remains only a slight annoying blip on the map, and until the time when it can prove itself in the land of the rising sun, will remain the annoying blip that Square Enix wants nothing to do with.
