Surprisingly, EA has released a new beta map for Battlefield 2. As you may remember, we brought the story that BF2 wasn’t supported any longer, apparently it is supported. The map, called Highway Tampa, was released as a beta in cooperation between Intel and DICE. What does that mean for the gamers? Intel billboards in the game.
However, several Battlefield 2 players have noticed that this particular map, Highway Tampa, was seen on EA servers back in 2005, over two years ago. So what does this mean? The map probably wasn’t good enough to release back then, but now, i the midst of all the bad publicity, they release it, as a beta, two years after it was first made.
Nevertheless, at least they released something, a beta of a two year old map filled with advertisements. But that’s usually not a problem, at least it’s free, and it’s a beta. This means that the final version will most likely be coupled with a patch (we sure hope so). Hopefully EA can prove us wrong, once and for all, and give us a patch and a map. You can give your feedback on the new map here.
