dAbout time the PS3 gets some positive sales news. GameIndustry reports that Sony has announced that the PlasyStation 3 has sold one million units in Europe and Australia. This milestone was reached in just over 9 weeks, which is quicker than both predecessors, the PlayStation and PS2. On the software side, Resistance: Fall of Man has sold 600,000 copies, with Motorstorm as the follow up with 500,000 copies sold.

In Japan, the PS3 has sold just over 900,000 units since it’s release in November, so the reception is clearly better in Europe and North America. In comparison, Wii has sold 2,5 million units in Europe and Australia, but it has been on the market since December. At this rate, the PS3 could easily math Wii sales in PAL regions.
