It’s been rumored for a while that Boogie and Harry Potter would be utilizing a microphone attachment for game play. It was assumed that Nintendo was therefore developing a hardware solution, to go along with a recent sound chip found in the Wii remote. However it seems at this point the microphone from Nintendo is nowhere in sight. In fact the hardware is being developed by EA. While the hardware itself looks pretty solid, and is branded EA, instead of “Boogie” for which it was announced (probably due to it being used in Harry Potter), it’s sad to see that Nintendo was not behind this. Reason being, other third parties won’t have access to the hardware, and will have to instead forgo microphone games. Why was it not built in from the start, like DS, and why has it since gone unmentioned by Nintendo? We shall never know.
