Wii Sales Reach 8 Million Worldwide

June 14th, 2007 Posted in Business, Wii

dAccording to VGchartz.org, the Wii has surpassed the 8 million mark. The number is not surprising, considering that Nintendo is shipping more than a million consoles every month, but they haven’t revealed exactly how many consoles have been sold to date. Another site tracking sales is nexgenwars.com, which estimates the sales at 7.6 million.

There are a number of other sites, all claiming the number is anywhere between 7.5 million and 8,5 million units sold. None of it is official though, but Nintendo will most likely reveal the real numbers at their E3 2007 event. It shouldn’t be a surprise if the number is at least 8 million at that time.

Pfft, who cares? The Wii is going to sell a bazillion copies, even though it has some of the worse games out there.

Literally the worst games, I have 3 friends that had to have this console. Between them 2 owned 360’s and ryan owned a ps3. When the wii came out they bought red steel and zelda. Neither one of them touch their consoles anymore, it just sits there collecting dust.

This system will be a flop. Not a very good online service which u need badly now a days. Old gen graphics, even tho the gameplay has changed thats all the people are wanting to do is use the controller.

I just dont see what sso special bout this system, no games, old gen graphics and a wii mote that looks like a tv mote. It might be a revolution, or me and many others think it ll just be a flop. Most of the saless, are from girls, and little kids. I yet to really really see other older people play the system.

Wii is selling cause it has great game play, everybody loves the controller, thats why! Its a great videogame, its not a hardcore or a graphics VG (Nintendo never denied that Wii wouldnt have great graphics, they said it would be a VG for everyone, and thats what it is), but a cheap and fun.
Besides people think, its CPU and GPU got better (compared to the Gamecube), and now CPU and GPU are better than PS2 aswell.
It will have great games from now on, the thrird party are focusing on the Wii now, they said on the media.
I think Nintendo Wii will grow and have nice games and apps.

Oh yeah?!?!? Well I think tomorrow the sun is going to rise and the sky will be blue!

The problem isn’t the graphics, the problem is that I can either play these games on a PS2 or a Gamecube.

“Most of the saless, are from girls, and little kids.” the wicker man wrote. Is this a mature argument about the fact that wii is selling so many millions? I don’t think so.

First the graphic sucks, i know but the game play is really amazing
PS3 and Xbox is for freaky who think the universe turn around graphics and don’t care about feeling the game, playing golf, like u really play golf, is scarying u?
If i want graphics and be a really freaky boy who play all day long, xBox and ps3 is yours, but remember one thing, most of the costumer are people who don’t play all day long
    and like party with WII

  7. Kaiser Soze Says:

There are not many games yet because developers all to late found out that this wouldn’t be a flop like the previous consoles. I haven’t played so much on a console, since I got a SuperNES back in christmas in 1992, as I do with my Wii. Right now I’m looking forward to Mario Party 8 will hit the european shores
