Gears of War 2 Announcement This Year Unlikely

I can’t say I’m really surprised by the news, if Epic somehow managed to squeeze out a sequel in a year, it would be quite the feat. Although speculation still dictates that we’d be surprised at this years E3 with a huge shocking announcement of a second game. A trailer with a 2008/2009 release date? I could maybe see that happening, but any sort of playable demo is unlikely. When Mark Rein, VP of Epic games was questioned about the eventual sequel (we all know it is coming) and the appearance at E3, he unfortunately shot down all the rumors.

We are not announcing a sequel to Gears of War at E3 this year. Did you see the update we just did for Gears of War last week? We’re still working on the first one.

True words have never been spoken. We aren’t getting a sequel this year, that’s basically a fact, so I would rather not be teased with one that is just going to be a year plus in the distance.
