Manhunt 2: Adult Only

Today has been a flurry of news for the extremely violent and gory Wii and PS2 title. Although it is mostly the Wii version that has been getting a lot of attention, replacing simple button presses with actually acting out a lot of the violence. First of all we announced earlier today the title will be banned in the UK. It will be illegal therefore to sell a copy of the title in any format within the country. Not a good start for Take-Two who has had some financial troubles as of late.
The second issue is that the game may very well earn an Adult Only Rating by the ESRB. Mature rate games are only purchasable by those 17+ while Adult Only requires you to be 18 at least. While not a huge leap in years, the problems actually lie with the retailers. A lot of major retailers, like Wal Mart, refuse to sell adult only titles within their stores. This essentially means instant sales death for the title. Probably one of the most interesting facts is that an Adult Only title has never been released on a console. I think naysayers who claim the Wii has no adult content can officially shut it.
Take Two is actively working to make sure they get an M rating. What this means for the title is possible scaling back, delays but more importantly, forced censorship. At this point, whatever happens, one of the best ways to support future titles to make sure they aren’t censored in such a manor is to buy a copy of the game.
We’ll have more on this developing story as it hits.

Why ban a game, if its got a 18 cert just sell it to over 18’s, we are meant to be a country where we can make our own mind up,
Why let us have gta4 then, why not ban that, after playing the game i might buy a gun and start doing drive-bys.
Im sure i could make up my own mind if i want to play a game and our stupid goverment shouldnt tell me i cant, im now gonna make it my objective to get it on import now,
We are not the Germans you know
