
Shacknews carries confirmation from SCEA that the upcoming release of the v3.50 firmware for the PSP will unlock its CPU power, allowing developers to take full advantage of the portable’s clock speed.
The PSP CPU was previously locked at 266MHz rather than its full potential clock speed of 333MHz. However, hackers had discovered ways to unlock the CPU clock speed, resulting in smoother frame rates in many games at the cost of battery life, though.
