Gaming To Outgrow The Music Industry This Year

According to a study from PriceWaterhouseCoopers, the video games industry might surpass the music industry as early as this year. The report, called “Global Entertainment and Media Outlook”, details predictions in the games, music, and movie industries form 2007-2011, and sees all industries to grow during that period.
According to the report, the video games industry will see a 9 percent increase each year until 2011, ending at $47.8 billion in 2011, compared to $37,5 billion this year. Furthermore, they expect in-game advertising to go from $80 million in 2006, to a staggering $950 million in 2011.
