No Killer Instinct at E3 says Rare

On the Rare Scribes pages where users can ask the dev team questions, they’ve unfortunately denied all existence of a Killer Instinct 3 title, and others for that matter. It seems the team is currently putting most of their efforts behind the upcoming Banjo title for the 360:

All that build-up, and then it comes crashing down into the anticlimax of “are you making KI3 or JFG2 or an RPG”? I find myself irretrievably ensnared in the chest-high brambles of disappointment, and if I’m in a bad mood for the rest of this Scribes then it’s all your fault. Purely out of contractual obligation, no, we’re not working on KI3, no, we don’t have a secret team in the basement finishing off JFG2, no, we’re not brainstorming an exciting sequel to It’s Mr. Pants and traditionally we’re not big players in the RPG market either.

Surely the team is currently working on additional titles, but at this point in time and with the absolutely limited knowledge we have on Banjo 3, it seems unlikely that much else will be showcased. A major announcement in the form of a video sequence could be possible, but when Banjo probably won’t even be squeezed into this year, it seems unfair to tease us with something so far off.

I am a huge fan of the Banjo series, so my only hopes for the team, beyond seeing the whole thing playable and maybe a surprise 2007 release, is that they fixed up their character models so they don’t look as blocky.
