dNintendo has announced WiiWare – a download service for the Wii with original game downloads, much like Xbox Live and PSN. The service will be available for both established game companies and Indie developers, especially Indie developers will get a chance to create something new and original for the Wii. Nintendo’s Reggie Fils-aime had this to say about the new service:

“Independent developers armed with small budgets and big ideas will be able to get their original games into the marketplace to see if we can find the next smash hit. WiiWare brings new levels of creativity and value to the ever-growing population of Wii owners,” he added.

Nintendo will price the titles on a game to game basis, users will be able to purchase the games from the Wii Shop channel for Wii points.
