PS3 Gains Exclusive Title from Quartic Dream
July 4th, 2007 by Brian Lockhart in Business, PlayStation 3
Quartic Dreams seem to be a developer that is all about cinematical experiences and emotional investments in their titles. You may remember their last game Indigo Prophecy or upcoming title Heavy Rain. Today Sony has partnered with them to develop an exclusive title only for the PS3. It’s great to see that Sony is taking at least some conscious efforts in picking up some new exclusive titles. Quartic Dream is obviously excited to bring an exclusive title, with the PS3 allowing them to create an extremely cinematic and emotional experience.
The founder of the company, David Cage, stated that they “always believed that “next generation” meant more meaningful content based on players’ emotional involvement. To us, PS3 is the only platform that can truly deliver on this promise.”
The quote itself is sort of confusing, apparently you can only be emotionally invested in a PS3 title. I think what he meant to say was Sony was the highest bidder. There is still no word on whether the game will be a completely new title that we have yet to learn about, or upcoming title Heavy Rain. From how things are worded, and the fact we’ve already know about Heavy Rain for quite some time, it looks like they are developing a second title ground up for the PS3. It’s hard to say at this point whether we will learn more at E3, but be sure to keep your eyes peeled for this exciting new title.
