Sony says Wii Won’t Last
Nanako Kato, a spokesperson for Sony, was asked by GamePro very frankly why PS3 was being outsold 6:1 by the Wii. He gave this response:
“We developed the PS3 as a hardware that lasts for decades and believe we are in a marathon rather than a sprint.”
There’s no doubt that the PS3 is targeting a more long term life-span, and with the way the Wii is selling, you have to ask yourself if somethings going to give. It is a bit of a breath of fresh air to hear Sony give a straight answer to the PS3’s current state. That said, decades? Decade, maybe, but decades? Doesn’t Sony plan on releasing the PS4 sometime? Another thing to consider is that the 360 isn’t exactly a use-it-then-lose-it console, and Microsoft has capitalized on the foot hole created by their head start.
