Some folks have been a little bit hard on what we already suspected being news, but for those of us who didn’t connect the dots, its nice to seem some verification. Capcom’s upcoming title Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles for the Wii will sport 2-player co-op mode. It was already assumed from the multiple screen shots showing more than one agent.
The setup sounds quite similar to Rayman Raving Rabbids with a second reticule joining in the action. For a railed shooter, it provided a great two-player experience, so at least Capcom has learned from a good thing. Once again, similarly to Raving Rabbids, you can shoot certain objects in the field which will explode, helping you remove multiple sets of zombies at once.
Among the announcement were selectable characters; you can choose between Jill and Chris from Resident Evil, and Rebecca and Billy from Resident Evil 0. There is a good chance we’ll find out about more characters from later games as well. Most interesting is that depending on whom you pick as a playable character will change your starting location in the game, this should add for a good deal of replay-ability. I’m nearly positive we’ll be seeing this title at E3, so keep your eyes peeled and ears open.
