E3: PS3 Price Cut Confirmed
July 9th, 2007 Posted in Business, E3, PlayStation 3
Finally, Sony has officially confirmed the $100 price cut on the PlayStation 3, now retailing for $499. In addition, Sony will introduce an 80 GB PS3 in August, at $599. To justify a $100 increase for a mere 20 GB of storage, the 80 GB version will be bundled with Motorstorm.
The price cut has been rumored, and to some extent confirmed by retailers, but Sony always denied it, as usual. The price cut will certainly do something about the poor PS3 sales, but not too much, as analyst Colin Sebastian told GameSpot, it may not be enough, since it’s still a $500 machine — still the high-end console. Sadly, the PS3 price cut and the 80 GB version are for North America only (the 80 GB version is also available in Korea though).

Man, Sony will confuse me until the day I die! This is sony ” No!, we’ll not be having a price cut anytime soon!” This kinda sad with the system barely making it’s 6 month mark and already losing badly. The wii is crushing it 6 to 1 in japan. Im so atleast 3/4 to 1 here in America.
