E3: Wii Shortages Might Last, Well, Forever

Nintendo’s Wii has been sold out worldwide ever since it launched, and some are getting a bit upset that they’re aren’t able to find one (I waited for 3 months before finding one). And it looks as if the shortages won’t end anytime soon, at least not this year.
Speaking to Reuters, Nintendo’s George Harrison said that they could not assure that there will be enough supplies for this holiday season.
“There is no guarantee that we are not going to have ‘out-of-stocks’ this holiday season. If you see one, buy it. Don’t assume that you can come back later and find one.”
Nintendo is reportedly producing a million Wii units a month, sales have surpassed 8 million according to some, but there are no official numbers from Nintendo on that. At the E3 event, Nintendo’s Reggie Fils-aime mentioned that the DS had sold 40 million units worldwide, but didn’t mention the exact number for the Wii.
