Parents Neglect Children, Blame Video Games

July 16th, 2007 by Gibran Nawaz in Articles, Offbeat

A couple in Reno, Nevada had neglected their two children, one 22-month-old boy and one 11-month-old girl, to the point of them being malnourished and close to death. The two babies were found to have several infections and other health related problems. The couple had food in their household, so why didn’t the parents take proper care of their kids? The parents and prosecutors are blaming the incident on Dungeons & Dragons Online. The couple supposedly had not been paying attention to the infants due to being distracted by the game.

It could be the case that the parents were in fact being distracted by the video game, but the focus of the prosecution should be the fact that they are two negligent parents that need to be taught a lesson. The two now face up to twelve years in prison. Fortunately, the two children are now doing well in foster care.

dont make them do 12 years, come on. Get them help and realize they need to step up to bat. I have a 3 month old son and I love games and movies. But, he comes behind them. Some people are just plain wierd but 12 years is just to much.

Why do I say this? well, it hurts the kids later in life.

Go on, blame the games, not the game junkies that neglect their own kids. No one? Well, this is a surprize.
I don’t think prison is needed. Just taking the kids and their coumputer(s)(and forbid them of having access to one. kinda like they do with hackers) would do.
Playing too much and throwing your life away is ok. Trowing other’s lives away is NOT ok.
