Rumor: $399 40GB PS3 Model

July 16th, 2007 Posted in Business, PlayStation 3, Rumor by Gibran Nawaz

In the latest issue of GameInformer, yet another rumor has surfaced concerning the PlayStation 3. This time, there will be a brand new SKU which will feature a 40GB hard disk drive, and will cost a mere $399. Unfortunately, no backwards compatibility will be present. The magazine had expected to hear about it at this year’s E3, but nothing was mentioned apart from the already existing price cut confusion. It may be highly unlikely, but anything can happen. If this is announced, a total of four SKU’s will be on the market, including the 20GB, 60GB, and 80GB models.
