WiiWare May Still Debut This Year
George Harrison, VP of marketing at Nintendo has let us know that WiiWare may not be completely written out of 2007. It sounds like the structures for the system will be in place, but that whether they’ll have the software to support it in 2007 is the question. Since Nintendo hadn’t really tipped their heads to most developers about the new online store, they weren’t expecting to have a solid software backing until 2008. This is a good thing of course, because anything less than at least one release a week would probably not go over as well for the fan community. So could we get the service earlier, this is what George had to say:
“It may not take until 2008. I’ve seen a couple of ideas that have already been generated even before we went public [with WiiWare]. Whether those are going to be ready or not, I don’t really know,”
So will developers have enough software available to make WiiWare viable in 2007? That remains to be seen, but it’s already promising that lots of content is on the way with Nintendo re-thinking the 2008 release.
