Ray Muzyka, CEO of BioWare, did his best to put Sonic fans at ease about the upcoming Sonic RPG. While speaking to Game|Life about the game he stated that the approach that BioWare was taking with the game is parallel with the essence of Sonic.

We plan on taking those core Sonic elements that fans love about games and incorporating them into a brand new adventure that will feature the best of both worlds: all the fast-paced action of Sonic, plus a deep and engaging storyline that will keep players on the edge of their seats. By staying true to those Sonic elements that fans are already familiar with, and injecting our own unique BioWare flavor, we plan to make that transition as smooth and exciting as possible.

Many fans of Sonic were worried that the franchise simply wouldn’t translate into the RPG genre, but most of the apprehension was a result of the generally slower pace that RPGs have been known for. Muzyka said that the game will fit in not only with the Sonic universe, but will also have the feel of a DS game, allowing players to play in “shorter bursts” if they feel like it. It seems as though BioWare is committed to make sure that the Sonic RPG will be in good, if not great, hands.
