Xbox Division Takes A $2 Billion Loss

July 21st, 2007 Posted in Business, Xbox 360

Microsoft recently announced an extended warranty that would cost the company over a billion dollars. Now the company has reported a loss of $1.9 billion last fiscal year (ended this June). The “Entertainment and Devices Division” losses increased by 47% compared to last year, primarily driven by the new warranty extension.

Revenues were up by 28% on strong sales of the Xbox 360 console and the Zune, to $6.08 billion. Microsoft has shipped over 11 million Xbox 360 consoles so far, and hopes that the console business will turn profitable this fiscal year (ending June 2008).

HALO 3,Call of duty4,crysis(there will be a 360 version)blacksite Area 51,Counter-strike(I heard a 360 version is coming), Half life 2 orange box, Assassin creed, gears of war still selling(reminds me of halo),gears of war 2,halo wars,TC endwar, splinter cell 5, bioshock, project interstellar marines, project interstellar marines… MGS 4 might be coming, devil may cry 4,grand theft auto 4. Battlfield bad company.

I counted a good 70-100 games are coming for the 360 and PC. Take 100, x2’s it by each title selling 3 million copies a piece. I did it like this with halo 3 might hit 8 million copies sold easy. 360 already nail 12 million consoles sold. With this xmas I see easy 4-6 more sold.

    I say give it time!
