American NPD June Numbers Released

July 24th, 2007 Posted in Nintendo DS, PSP, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Wii, Xbox 360

Just a few short days ago we were graced with the Canadian numbers for the month June. Needless to say things were extremely interesting for several of the consoles. However, positions aren’t as different and expected with the American NPD numbers. While the Nintendo DS still holds fast to the top spot in America and will likely stay that way, the GBA outsells last place PS3.

It’s important to note all numbers are inflated, as this was one of the five-week periods used in collecting data. The interesting data will really come next month when we find out if the PS3 price cut made much of a difference.

Nintendo DS: 561,000
Wii: 381,780
PlayStation Portable: 290,100
PlayStation 2: 270,760
Xbox 360: 198,440
Game Boy Advance: 113,870
PlayStation 3: 98,470

Continue reading on for the software charts.

The Wii preformed nearly as formidably as in Canada with 4 of the top ten software sales. Whoever said well done ports and mature titles couldn’t sell on the Wii need only look as far as Resident Evil 4, which cracked into the top ten positions. Meanwhile, casual aimed title Big Brain Academy that released earlier in June only made it to spot number 19. Perhaps casual games aren’t always guaranteed best sellers.

Mario Party 8 (Wii)
Wii Play w/remote (Wii)
Pokémon Diamond (DS)
Pokémon Pearl (DS)
Forza Motorsport 2 (Xbox 360)
Guitar Hero II w/guitar (PS2)
Guitar Hero II w/guitar (Xbox 360)
Pokémon Battle (Wii)
Resident Evil 4 (Wii)
The Darkness (Xbox 360)

yeah, after the price cut was a lie and runs out we ll see the same problem as before with the ps3. Then the 360 will have a price cut, being 200 bucks cheaper than the ps2, well 400 bucks cheaper with a core.

    199 (core)
    299 (pre)
    389 (elite)

Now, the ps3 is still gonna be at 600? its all about numbers. I see MGS 4 coming to the 360 very soon soon if the price cut really happens in august 1st. Even a core for 199??? That means u can buy a used system for 149 at ebgames or a pre for 159( lol 10 bucks more with a wireless controller).

Im still amazed the ds is outselling everything. I personally thinkt he psp is a very well thoughtout device. So far, the DS doesnt haven many games. I counted like 5 that spraked an interest. Out of those 5.. DOOM,wolf 3d,contra,contra4,Mario.

I see this shit getting out of hand. This is when the console’s really start selling. 3 years in it’s life cycle. It goes ( rich/higher middle class, low middle class, poor and then very poor) Thats why the ps2 is still selling good.

the DS has a ton of games, brain age, mario kart, super mario 64, NSMB, metroid prime echoes, and of course, the upcoming zelda phantom hourglass.

the biggest reason the ds is ahead of the psp and is selling so well, is all the games available for the system.
