EA and Microsoft Sign In-game Ads Deal

July 25th, 2007 Posted in Business by Rajiv Ashrafi

gameadvertising.jpgReuters reports that Microsoft will be serving ads in several upcoming EA games, including NASCAR, Tiger Woods, NHL and Skate. This comes through Massive, an in-game ad agency, which Microsoft bought last year for $200 million. The company faces severe competition from Google (who bought rival ad agency Adscape) and Double Fusion, both of which have been snapping up clients.

Financial details of the deal weren’t disclosed, though the article points out that in-game advertising is worth a lot and that the money involved in this deal is huge for both sides. The ads will be served only on the PC and Xbox 360 versions of the games as they do not have any control over the inclusion of ads in PS3 and Wii titles.
