Senator Plays WoW, Has Lvl-70 Priest
In an interview to Pacific Daily News, Sen. Ray Tenorio, a representative of the state of Guam, revealed that he is a World of Warcraft player… a serious level-70 Dwarf priest at that, too. He goes by the name of Paleray on the Silverhand server and is even a member of a guild.
Aparently, he has been gaming online for years, with his previous choice being another Blizzard classic – Diablo 2. However, he later switched to World of Warcraft at the request of his brother and has been hooked since.
“What I like about World of Warcraft is it’s a great way to be able to reach out and connect with other people,” he said. “So many different people play – attorneys, accountants, geeks… all kinds of people.”
He also said that he comes back to WoW since the developers consistently add new content, commenting that “there’s always something new to come back to.” You can find more details about this gamer-lawmaker on his official website.

It’s a hobby. Lawmakers can’t have hobbies?

I was wondering how much he ‘played’ WoW. . .but a lvl 70 priest. . .nice. Wonder if he paid someone to get him that high.

Allen, what do you do for a living that you are ignorig to spend time posting here? What an idiotic comment. A senator has a hobby, stupid people line up to comment. Opinions are like……Everyone has one….now you know mine.

Guam isn’t a state. He’s a senator IN the Guam legislature, not sent from Guam to Washington DC.

What a champion. Paleray for prez!
July 27th, 2007 at 7:25 pm
Guam is not a state, its a non-self governing territory owned by the U.S. just thought i’d clear that up ;P
This is hilarious, i’d never expect someone of that stature to play an MMO ^_^

lol this reminds me of the president in South Korea playing Granado Espada a popular MMORPG in Korea.

Heya guys. Yeah, I do play the game, and read legislation, just not at the same time, thank goodness or I wouldn’t be able to heal (or melt faces) depending on the situation. I leveled it myself and it beats paying for golf at the going rates here on island. I enjoy the game and all my friends I have on line. Drop a line some day. /s/ Ray

Paleray,
I doubt it’ll happen, but if Guam ever swings into the US proper I hope to find you in Washington. We need more people who understand gaming. It’s too easy for politicians to consider Gaming the Rock ‘n Roll of the present day, and the overtones of censorship are a bit unnerving.
Cheers,
Bill

This article really needs to have it’s title/headline changed. Mr. Tenorio is not a U.S. Senator, but a Senator in the Guam Legislature. Since it is not a State, Guam does not have a Senator. In fact, Guam only has a delegate to the House of Representatives.

I wonder what set of armour he has.

I used to play with Paleray before BC came out. I can personally attest to the fact that he leveled the character himself, he is a pretty damn good healer, too.

I wonder if he buys gold from GamerTex.com to support American gamers instead of outsourcing it to some chinese sites!
August 7th, 2007 at 2:32 am
Could he be just playing off someone else’s character and claimed that he achieved level 70? Oh, doesn’t he has a job to do? He seems to have ample of free time, what is George Bush thinking?
August 7th, 2007 at 7:57 am
Apparently everyone finds it so hard to believe that a person with a real life and real job plays an MMORPG without cheating of some sort.
August 7th, 2007 at 8:11 am
Apparently no one wants to believe that someone out there with a real life and real job had time to honestly level up their character…
