Sony Sued For Cell Patent Infringment

California-based Parallel Processing Corporation has sued Sony for allegedly infringing one of its patents. The patent, which covers “synchronized parallel processing with shared memory”, is, according to the plaintiff, used in the Cell chip that powers the PlayStation 3. Parallel is seeking damages and attorney’s fees, plus the removal of all Sony products containing the technology (the PS3).

This is not the first time Sony has been sued, Immersion successfully sued the company for using their rumble technology in the Dualshock controllers, and they have even been sued for the Blu-ray disc technology.
