Sony has developed a “computing board”, powered by the mighty Cell processor and the RSX graphics processor, both are to be found in the PS3. The board is not meant to supplement PC gamers or anything in that matter; it is mainly targeted at the scientific and corporate systems which require great computing power. The board will fit into a standard 1U rackmount server cabinet, but besides the Cell and RSX chips, no further details were revealed. Sony is said to demonstrate the unit at the SIGGRAPH show on August 7.
