Today was not a good day for financially troubled Take Two. With their court problems, financial woes and shunning of Manhunt 2, the company is again projecting in the red. On top of their delay of GTA IV, Manhunt 2 has also been pushed out of the fiscal year, meaning it’s at least sitting in November. Unlike the technical issues GTA IV has been delayed for, Manhunt 2 has been pushed back to bring the content under a Mature rating. Take Two execs are discussing the delays and their disappointment.
“We’re disappointed to announce the decision that we made to delay GTV IV. Clearly we’re not happy. It would’ve been even more disappointing to deliver anything that was anything less than a full expression of the GTA series at its best…The reason that it’s being delayed is almost strictly…technical challenges.”
Take Two is taking a big financial hit with all of these delays, how will it affect them? Fortunately head execs state: “We are comfortable with our liquidity position.” Inevitably, all will be good when they manage to get a game out the door, and they are feeling confident that will be the second quarter of fiscal 2008 for GTA IV.
