Sony Still Denying Rumble, But Admits Sixaxis Upgrades

August 6th, 2007 Posted in PlayStation 3

For the PlayStation 3 owners out there still expecting their Sixaxis controllers to boast a rumble feature sooner or later, Sony has once again denied that it’s on the way. The director of corporateps3 communications for Sony, Dave Karraker did, however, confirm that a Sixaxis with improved sensitivity for both the analog stick as well as enhanced motion sensing is in the hands of developers.

“We have not added rumble [to PS3], and have no announcements regarding this feature. From time to time, we make minor enhancements to the controllers for our platforms. We recently sent out to the development community some new prototypes that have a slightly enhanced sensitivity for the analog sticks and the motion sensing within the Sixaxis controller. This is not a new controller, but is part of the normal development and evolution of controllers.”

At this point Sony has little reason to implement rumble into the PlayStation 3 controller. Chances are that we’ll here more rumors though, but don’t expect Sony to add rumble as a feature any time soon.
