Apple Unveils DX10 Comatible iMacs

August 7th, 2007 Posted in Business, Hardware, PC, Technology

Apple has just unveiled their new line of iMac computers, this time featuring DirectX 10 graphics cards from ATI. The new and redesigned iMacs sport 20″ or 24″ inch displays at 1680 x 1050 and 1900 x 1200 resolutions, respectively. The graphics cards are ATI Radeon HD 2600 XT for the low end model and ATI Radeon HD 2600 Pro for the two high end models. These aren’t the most powerful DX10 cards on the market, by far, but coupled with the 2.0 – 2.4 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo CPUs, you should be able to play the newly announced Mac games by EA (Battlefield 2142, NFS Carbon etc.). More details and pics at Engadget.

Wow that is really cool though … I mean really cool! Finally my friends who are mac gamers will be able to play some really good games and they will have great rigs so they may be able to keep up with me without lag. :D But seriously this is really good news for gaming as an industry … the more people who become involved the better it is for the growth of devs and for more games to come along that are more creative and even better then what we have today. I love it.
