PS3 80GB Available Now
August 7th, 2007 Posted in Business, PlayStation 3

Sony has “officially” released the PS3 80 GB in North America, with some details (which were known for a long time now). The 80 GB PS3 is bundled with Motorstorm and will retail for $599 in the U.S. and $659 in Canada ($659 Canadian dollars, that is). The 60 GB version is $499 and is out of production now, but there are still a few million units on the market, so it shouldn’t be hard to find one.
On the other side of the Atlantic, Europeans can get the 60 GB version for the same 599 Euros, but the console is now bundled with two controllers and two games, Motorstorm and Resistance: Fall of Man.

Is that a response to XBox 360 Elite 120GB hardrive. Why didn’t they add more but only 80 GB?
Anyway good games are bundled inside.

It’s a trick, the “new” console is worse than the 60GB, despite having 20GB more storage.
This is because the 80 GB version has the PS2 emotion engine removed, reducing the costs more than it costs to add another 20 GB of storage.

It’s completely useless then.

You can play them even with the 60 GB version. But I don’t like the PS2 emotion engine to be removed at the 80 GB.
