Uncertainty Surrounds PS3 PAL Start Pack
August 7th, 2007 by Erich Jurgens in News, PlayStation 3 You may recall that Sony didn’t drop the PlayStation 3’s price in Europe as they did in
America. Instead Europe received the “starter pack”. Unfortunately it seems as though the starter pack may be temporary. According to the Australian GameSpot, Sony sent emails to PS3 owners in Australia, with some “fine print” that stated that the starter pack would end August 31st. There are also reports that British PS3 owners got emails as well that claimed that the starter pack was merely a summer promotion. The confusing part is that despite all this, Sony told Gamasutra that the opposite is true.
“As far as the UK and Europe are concerned there is no time limit on the availability of the Starter Pack.”
We’ll have to wait and see how this unfolds, but it would be a poor move for Sony if they did pull out the start pack. On the other hand, the American PS3’s “price drop” is only while supplies last, so it might make sense for the PAL version to be temporary as well, though it shouldn’t be.

Dear Sirs
SONY is telling the truth. In Australia for a trade promotion by law the Company must give an end date. If stock is not available before the end date then they can be fined. All Companies are conservative to avoid this. Further if you read the rest of the fine print, it says that this offer WILL be renewed with other software titles, so the facts are obvious , the starter pack DOES continue but with other titles. In the UK, it’s the same, they will probably switch the titles. I really suggest that everybody checks their facts beofre posting these articles.
