HDMI equipped XBox 360s standard in near future

August 8th, 2007 Posted in Hardware, Xbox 360 by Jeff Baker

360While not a surprise to most, rumors have been circulating that Microsoft is beginning to phase out their current stock of Core and Premium 360’s in anticipation of a ’soft launch’ of an HDMI equipped system towards the end of this month or the beginning of next. In addition to HDMI as standard these new consoles are expected to have the new cooler running 65nm processors that’s been buzzing around lately along with quieter DVD drives which come as a relief to some.
It looks like the Elite won’t be getting all the HD love anymore.

UPDATE: It has been confirmed that XBox 360 Premium consoles are now shipping with HDMI. Those future 360 owners waiting for the sought after HDMI goodness can finally purchase their console without being forced to upgrade to the Elite.
