HDMI equipped XBox 360s standard in near future
While not a surprise to most, rumors have been circulating that Microsoft is beginning to phase out their current stock of Core and Premium 360’s in anticipation of a ’soft launch’ of an HDMI equipped system towards the end of this month or the beginning of next. In addition to HDMI as standard these new consoles are expected to have the new cooler running 65nm processors that’s been buzzing around lately along with quieter DVD drives which come as a relief to some.
It looks like the Elite won’t be getting all the HD love anymore.
UPDATE: It has been confirmed that XBox 360 Premium consoles are now shipping with HDMI. Those future 360 owners waiting for the sought after HDMI goodness can finally purchase their console without being forced to upgrade to the Elite.

Great news! Progress continues on the 360 front and that is always positive. I know some people are going to get upset and say MS screwed early adopters but please you have to stop with that nonsense. EVERYONE knows that technology moves at light speed and that business decisions are always changing. You must have known that there was going to be better 360s … you definitely should have expected it … that is the way of technology. You improve things and cut costs and most of us early adopters understand this and accept this as the trade off for being the “first kid on the block” with a technological device (remember when VCRs costs 1000 bucks … I do … my father was an early adopter and got one of the first ones ever made).
So yeah this is great news for the 360, for MS, and for gamers because as the 360 market expands the games, the accessories, the marketplace, and XBL itself will only improve right along side of it and that is great news for all of us gamers in the long run (for a variety reasons that should be obvious … growth = growth for the entire gaming industry even the competition) and for us 360 gamers in the near term. Especially those of us who plan on buying a second one. HDMI – One cable for everything along with optical sound quality and 1080p? Heck yeah man bring it on!

I cant agree more with u. Sony is screwing their early adopters and same with nintendo. Think about it, they have to come out with just a plain system. Then when technology gets cheaper, the cheaper cost to build. Then u can upgrade them.. they should make a console where u can plug in upgrades.

@2
Yeah I’ve been looking for a bigger and better TV and a brand new Halo 3 HDMI Xbox 360 will fit it nicely.

WOW, that is amazing news! I have always wanted a 360 and this news has certainly made me want to get one soon enough. I hope sales for the console increase as well. Though I am a sole Wii owner I have always wanted a 360. It has amazing games and an amazing lineup for the future. Thanks again for this great news.
