Longtime Electronics Arts executive John Schappert will be making the switch to the software giant joining the Microsoft Interactive Entertainment Business or IEB. Schappert will be taking the position of corporate vice president of LIVE, software and services. Which means he will be overseeing Xbox Live, which currently has over 7,000,000 users across 25 countries, along with Games for Windows, the XNA project, and Microsoft Casual Games.
More on Schappert after the break.
Schappert started off founding Tiburion Entertainment in 1994 only to be acquired by EA 4 short years later. Joining EA, Schappert worked his way up the ranks which span from programmer for the best-selling EA franchise Madden NFL to chief operating officer of worldwide studios. Schappert was a staple in the EA Online business and hopes to contribute his expertise in expanding Xbox Live and similar services provided by Microsoft.
