Matt Casamassina Thinks Metroid Prime 3 Is ‘Under Hyped”

While it can’t be denied that Metroid Prime 3: Corruption is one the the most anticipated titles for the Wii, Matt Casamassina is dissatisfied with the amount of promoting that Nintendo is doing for the finale of the Metroid Prime series. Matt states that Metroid Prime 3: Corruption makes the biggest and most improvements out of any series receiving a sequel on the Wii, yet Nintendo declines to promote it.

“Just as Metroid Prime launched about a year after GameCube debuted, so shall Prime 3: Corruption for Wii. But take a look around and you will notice that this sequel, which may advance the series more than any other, has been more or less ignored by Nintendo of America, as the company chooses instead to spotlight in-house creations like Super Smash Bros. Brawl and “expanded audience” efforts like Wii Fit, both of which are scheduled for release well after Corruption. Were Retro’s latest set for release next year or even this December, like Brawl, we might be able to understand the disappointing lack of exposure for the game, but Prime 3 ships in America on August 27 — fewer than three weeks from now.”

He also points out that Nintendo keeps trying to compete Metroid with Halo, and that it makes no sense that they don’t hype it. Of course Halo 3 is beyond the point of being competed with, seeing as how Bungie hypes it beyond belief- Beta anyone? Or maybe Nintendo should roll out some Corruption Cola.

I think he is open to voice his opinion but according to me I think he should leave the promotion to Nintendo itself. Nintendo, like any other company, knows how to sell a product as its been vastly proven with the Wii and the DS. I am sure Nintendo has a plan to promote it and mainly Nintendo seems to concentrate on their games after their release. I am sure the promotion will pick up in the future as there are still 3 weeks to go. Patience is all thats needed. Thanks for this.

It still comes as a surprise to me to find that it’s coming out so soon. Good news.

I think the guy is correct … I had no idea the game was coming out this month. The attention has all been on the 360 and PC game and it seems that Nintendo is not even putting forth that much of an effort to break through and get the message across that the game is coming. They need some TV commercials, ads in game mags, etc.
