August 27th marks the release date of the newest Metroid game to the Wii, titled Metroid 3: Corruption, which means Nintendo decided to make the entire month of August a month dedicated to the Metroid series. The most notable update is the new Metroid 3: Corruption Preview channel which lets you view the various game play videos Nintendo has released for download via the Wii. One of the videos entitled Corruption is just your regular old trailer complete with gameplay and cinematical footage put together. The other video however is entitled Bridge Fight and shows actual action packed gameplay footage of a fight… on a bridge. There are also 2 other videos that are grayed out and when you hover over them it shows their release date of 8.13.2007. Other than that Nintendo lets you know that Metroid, the NES version, will be released on the Virtual Console on August 13th for 500 Wii Points. The SNES version of Metroid, Super Metroid, will also be available on the Virtual Console come August 20th which will only set you back 800 Wii Points.

Although Nintendo left out the thing that would make us truly happy, a downloadable demo of Metroid 3: Corruption. Oh well.
