XBLA Games To Remain Bite-Sized

August 14th, 2007 by Brian Lockhart in Xbox360

After ever so kindly bumping the XBLA limit on games to 150 Mbs from the original 64, it only seems likely that there is no where to go but up. After all, PS3 has set the precedent with allowing full download titles such as Warhawk, but the same isn’t in the cards for XBLA. Well, that’s what the official word has to say about the matter anyhow.

“It [the 150MB cap] really lets you focus on the innovation,” said Katie Stone, senior games program manager and founding member of XBL Arcade.

All eyes right now are going to be on Warhawk’s performance, but with the title in dual retail and as a download, it’s hard to say what the results may be. I’d really love to see some Episodic content like Sam and Max hit the XBLA to really challenge the market. Are we yet ready for large non bite sized downloadable games, or is XBLA making the wrong call by keeping their cap so small?
