Retail Week: Buy Bioshock

August 21st, 2007 by Brian Lockhart in Nintendo DS, PC, PlayStation 2, PlayStation 3, Wii, Xbox360

The decision in stores is pretty simple this week. Own a 360 or compatible PC? You should basically be on your way out the door right now to buy Bioshock. If you don’t own either, it may be time to upgrade or take the plunge. Of course, I’ll give you the benefit of the doubt that you were able to secure a copy before the street date as you rightfully should have tried to do.

It’s been all too long that we’ve had a high rated title hit the market, and this is only the start of good things to come. Still, at this point Bioshock seems poised to pick up some game of the year awards; certainly on the 360 it’s merely a question between this, Halo 3 and Mass Effect. Truly, your only excuse to not buy the game is that you really need to hold onto your cash for some of the other big titles in the next few weeks. Oh yes, and apparently there were some other titles that decided to brave it against Bioshock. Nintendo however sneakily pushed back Metroid one week, and may have been a smart decision in the end. This may be the month of Metroid, but this was without a doubt the week of Bioshock.

Bioshock, mhmmm good. ATM my game is skipping all over the place and is sorta making me mad. But, the best I ve ever played in single player for a single player game.

GRAW 2, so far the pc one sucked.. the 360 one rocked.. and I thought I would ever say a 360 game would be better than the pc one. It should sell well on the ps3.

I heard two worlds is suppose be to good, so either way.. A good week for buying games :-)

My guess for Game of the Year is either Bioshock or Mass Effect. While I am eagerly awaiting the third coming of the Master Chief I feel that either Mass Effect of Bioshock has a better shot with their originality of play and stories. Let’s face it, the Halo storyline is awesome yes, but it’s not that convoluted. Two Worlds we’ll have to see about. Yes, it’s pretty. Yes. I do want to play it. A lot. But we won’t know til we get our hands on it will we?

Bioshock was amazing, maybe it cant be game of the year.. But, crysis has the best shot to compete with bioshock :-)

As far as GoTY awards go do not forget about CoD4 and Crysis … those two are going to be my picks although there is no doubt about it … Bioshock is a fantastic game in just about every way.

All I know is that competition for this year’s GoTY is going to be fierce … heck we haven’t even talked about any Wii games or PS3 games like Liar and Heavenly Sword. And really if Halo 3 goes on to sale like 5 million copies then believe me it WILL get the GoTY. And it may deserve it … only time and playing the game will tell.
