FIFA Interactive World Cup Announced

FIFA, EA and SCEE have jointly announced the new season of the FIFA Interactive World Cup, the world’s only officially sanctioned FIFA football gaming competition. This virtual world cup sees players all over the world connect online and duke it out in leagues. This year participants will need FIFA 08 on the PS3 to join in on the competition; it also launches this new with a new format, designed as a season-long experience.

Players can join the competition through the PlayStation Network globally or through various FIWC 08 Qualifier events spread across the globe. The event will start off this October and will culminate in the grand final in Berlin’s Sony Centre in May 2008. Thirty-two finalists will compete to be crowned as the world champion, rewarded with an invitation to the FIFA World Player Gala along with a US $20,000 cash prize.
