A few times a year, all the biggest gaming mascots gather together for a red-carpeted games conference best of awards event. Or at least that’s how I’d like to picture it in my head. Really, juries of nerds probably sit around a table and battle it out. This years winners of the conference have been unveiled, and the results are pretty predictable.
The only award that is really interesting is the Best of the Wii. While first party titles graced the list, a third party offering stole the show. No, this isn’t a game from Capcom either, but something you may have entirely left off your list. A lot of folks were excited to see that Sonic and Mario would be finally facing off head to head in an all out war. The Olympics may not have been the place we expected these rivals to get together, and the Sonic team might not have been the first choice of developers, but as the winner of a prestigious GC award, surely a few heads have been turned. Is Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games actually on track to be a stellar release, that could compete with Mario Galaxy? Apparently that jury of nerds thinks so. Click on through to read the entire list of winners.
