Noob Scores Second Place in WCG 2007
Usually, it takes hundreds of hours into a game to become at least at an amateur level of a professionally played video game. One scenario of this is the World Cyber Games Australia. Hopeful gamers come to the event to compete with other players to get to the finals. Professional gamers have dedicated their entire lives to these games, which include titles such as Counter-Strike 1.6, Warcraft III, and Command & Conquer 3.
Fabian Baumann had come to the event to merely as a spectator. No one would have guessed that he would walk away as a champion.
“I just wanted to try the game out to see if I wanted to play it, and they said that I had to join the tournament to play because they were using the computers for tournament play the whole day,”
Baumann then played the game against professional gamers, and surprisingly landed a second place title. Keep in mind that the guy was technically a Command & Conquer veteran, but had never put his hands on the third installment. He will be representing Australia in the final event to be held at Seattle, USA.

Maybe playing the simpler versions of the game gave him a better understanding of the physics of the game 0r something like that…
