Philips sent word that they have struck a deal with THQ that will see the award-winning RTS Supreme Commander amBX-enabled and bundled with the company’s PC gaming peripherals.

amBX is a technology designed by Philips to take “ambient experience” to the next level through physical interaction with the game world. This is achieved through strategically placed lights, fans and vibrators that recreate wind, explosion and rumble effects, among other things.

“Supreme Commander is the perfect title to accompany and showcase the Philips amBX Gaming Peripherals effects,” commented Engelbert van Pelt, General Manager New Business Development, Philips Consumer Electronics. “Supreme Commander’s real-time strategy game play will maximise the lighting, wind and rumble effects that the Philips amBX PC Gaming Peripherals are capable of delivering. War gaming has never been so realistically scary.”

It was not mentioned when the title will be re-released as amBX-enabled, or whether there will be a patch for gamers who have already purchased it.
