Hirai: Developers Should Use PS3 To Spice Up Their Games

make the PS3 version of their game the best one.
I think it’s important that third parties use the unique characteristics of the platform to add a little bit of extra flavour to their games. For example, with the PS3, you’ve got the Sixaxis controller, or you could utilise the extra capacity provided by Blu-ray to add more levels, put on interviews with the developers or have your videos able to play in 1080p. I think it’s really important that we talk with third party developers so that they can have these interesting extras in the PlayStation 3 version.
It would be nice to have PlayStation 3 exclusive features in games, but shouldn’t developers already know about features such as Sixaxis? I doubt developers need Sony to hold their hands while they make their games.

I think it’s more important that they focus on the main GAME being good and as best as they cam make it, not worry about ‘extra features’, they’re just distractions from why we’re here in the first place.

I really think sony should do something similar to what microsoft is doing, like developing great consoles that can do everything and surround themselves with good game developers and all work together, I think micro has a edge over sony now because they can use the internet and vista to their advantage I think they really got to do something spectacular and not just rely on there brand.

Since there are so many stories lately about how hard it is to develop for the PS3 I imagine that could be the reason why they don’t want to bother making any extra features, even it is just developer diaries or whatever.

In a foew words.. I think Sony have failed by alienating their core audience by selling the PS3 at too high price, while insisting that their technology is better - at the cost of ease of use.
