It has come to my notice that Ubisoft has released yet another of its games for free, following its release of Far Cry, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time and Rayman a few days ago. The French publisher has released the original Ghost Recon as an advertising-supported game. It will require a Ubi.com account, which should be registered in the US. Grab it from 3D Downloads or Gamer’s Hell.
Ghost Recon is a series of military tactical shooter games developed by Red Storm Entertainment. The game puts the player in charge of a newly conceived squad of US Army Special Forces. Their operations are kept highly classified.
It is not known currently whether the publisher has plans to release more of its games under this model.
