Guerilla: Killzone 2 Only Possible on PS3
September 5th, 2007 by Rajiv Ashrafi in Action, FPS, PlayStation 3
The latest issue of the Official PlayStation Magazine carries an interview with Guerilla Games in which the studio’s Managing Director Herman Hulst stated that Killzone 2 is “only possible on PS3.” He said this while talking about exclusively developing for one console only. “It’s a huge benefit. If you’re developing a game on multiple platforms there are restrictions you always have to take into consideration.” Hulst added that they are taking “huge advantage” of the architecture of the PS3 and that it would be “difficult, if not impossible, to deliver on a competing machine.”
Fellow Guerilla Steven Ter Heide, producer of the upcoming game, reflected his sentiments. “I would say [It's] impossible. We literally can’t do this stuff on any machine other than the PS3.”
The main strength of the PS3? It all lies in Blu-ray, he says, pointing out that the recent demo level shown was taking up 2GB space. “We really need Blu-ray to make the game. I don’t know how you could fit it on Xbox 360 without taking some shortcuts.”

Impossible? No way, this is just marketing for Sony.

Gee….. Only in Pre-Alfa Pre-Production and already can’t be done on PC or Xbox 360! LOLz
Yeah, BluRay is just the icing on top of the cake, now. Basically it’s really because most of the game is being processed with Deferred Rendering on just 4 SPU’s and none are even close to being topped out, yet! hehe
Think about it people! PS3’s Cell BE has the equivalent shader power of the RSX. So you have the equivalent CPU power of Xbox 360 Xenon CPU on Cell. Plus the ability to run two equivalent GPU’s in SLI with the rest of the Cell and the RSX!
Yes! =D PS3 is a Monster!

it is impossible, i point to the fact that the cell can run alot of stuff in parallel so it will outperform the general purpose 360 cpu … by 2/1, even the farcry 2 devs are impressed by the ps3..

i hear that Guerrilas engine could even mimic Dx10, and they even have alot more to do like contact shadows and ambient lighting, that engine slaughters epic’s UE. i hear epic will implement contact shadows on their engine in the future though but as of now no no console game on this planet comes close to K2….
