Sony Doesn’t Care About Lair Reviews

One of Sony’s big hitters this year was supposed to be Lair, but it hasn’t been doing well with critics. Interestingly, Sony does not care. “At the end of the day, I’ll be interested in the consumers’ response,” said Dave Karraker, outgoing SCEA PR boss. “I’ve spoken to any number of people who really like it, and there’s other people that find it a challenge. What really matters is whether or not the consumers are having a good experience, because they’ll tell us on the [PlayStation] blog.”
Next-gen tried to contact Factor 5, developer of the game, to ask about the low review scores, but has been unable to do so. However, they do point out that Lair director Julian Eggebrecht spoke about the title’s development to MTV GameLife, calling it “haunted.”

What a load of crap … if the game was getting reviews like Gears of War was getting for MS on the 360 Sony would be bragging all over the place. But because the game is a piece of crap as far as the gameplay goes they come out with this absurd statement.
Sony is just laughable these days … only one PS3 title is in the 90% arena according to the reliable Gamerankings.com. That is really sorry when your console has been out for nearly an entire year and the best game is still the one that shipped at launch. The devs have not made ANY progress on making true PS3 games that look and play great.
What is really funny is that the one game that broke the 90% barrier is Oblivion which was out on the 360 waaay before it hit the PS3. Not one Sony 1st party game is over 87%. Sad.

So sony’s not worried about the loads of people who’ll not buy a game if the reviews all say it’s terrible? How does that make any sense AT ALL?

It doesn’t and neither does Sony that’s the point. Could you imagine some big time Movie Studio saying that about one of their movies … and of course we know that movie would be an unmitigated disaster.

Sony has tried to brush off bad press before, but for one of their games that they were expecting to be so great, this probably has them biting their nails and selling stock…
