Square Enix Slams the PS3
It’s no surprise that not everyone appreciates the PS3, or any of the other consoles for that matter. The number of companies that have criticized Sony in the past is alarmingly large. Today, Square Enix can be added to the growing list. The popular Japanese RPG company had some pretty rough things to say about Sony’s marketing strategy of the Playstation 3.
“Sony first unveiled the PS3 as a mighty home electronics product. Then, after some badgering from game companies, it shifted the position of the console closer to a game machine,” he commented. “(The future of the PS3) would be tough if its marketing strategy is not straightened up.”
Around the time when the PS3 was first introduced to the market, Blu-Ray players were selling for staggering high prices. Media enthusiasts decided to buy the PS3 just to play the next generation format without paying a fortune. The same marketing strategy was also evident during the launch of the PS2. DVD players were expensive, and the PS2 was a great alternative for anyone looking to purchase a player for a low price.
In the beginning, Sony has stressed the fact that their machine is not only a gaming console, but is instead a multimedia device. Due to recent developers being critical towards the PS3, the company has shifted focus onto mainly gaming. Although, Sony is not to be underestimated, since they have been in the business of electronics for quite some time now. We can always expect them to have an ace up their sleeves.

I’m very surprised to hear this company that basically made sony are stabbing them in the back. Well, money does weird things to a person/company. I think the day of console only games will be over soon. This is proof right here, halo series sense MS owns them.

“stab in back” usually refers to turning against one who has helped you in past, not one you have helped

Wicker Man: Square-Enix made Sony? Square-Enix is nothing like Sony.
The only problem of PS3 seems to be the cell proccessor… it is “complicated” for some companies, while for some others not… seeing as there are a lot of games released till now.

I consider them a big part of sonys success, with FF and all. They made a lot of RPGS for that company that would would hurt the sales if it went to the pc only or the 360.

I doubt this one could help sales if the other companies still criticize Sony.

Very funny!!! Ok I laughed…. now what? Is Square going to pretend they Sony doesn’t own Square Enix shares? This is all foolish talk about as bad as what ignorant reviewers are saying about games like Lair, WarHawk, and Heavenly Sword.
PS3 will now have “Home Run Balls” in Games leaving the park on a regular basis! LOLz Let’s see who’s knocking what, where in a year or two, FOOLS!
How many Exclusives from Square Enix now? Oh yeah… 3 (as in) PS3! hehe
