Factor 5 Sends Guide To “Help” Lair Reviewers Do Their Job.

September 8th, 2007 Posted in PlayStation 3, Reviews

Apparently, when Factor 5 saw that Lair had received such low scores, they came up with a theory that it was not the game that was flawed, but the reviewers themselves. To fix this, the makers of Lair distributed a reviewers guide to Lair. Many of the pages were dedicated to the controls, which is understandable considering one of the main reasons that Lair received such low scores was because the reviewers felt that the controls were essentially broken. I’m not sure what exactly they planned to accomplish by sending the guides after the game was reviewed, but it’s definitely not a good sign if professionals need to be told how to play a game.

    I’m sure the $100 bills hidden between the pages will “help” them out reeeeaaaal good. *wink wink*

    It is a terrible sign if you need to send out instructions to professional reviewers on how to play your game. If these guys can’t play it then how do they expect the majority of gamers will be able to … this game was supposed to be a major seller and if the only people who can play it without extra instructions are a small group of hardcore gamers then Sony once again is demonstrating that they are losing their grasp on what gaming is all about.

    People are supposed to be able to pick up a next gen game and be able to just play it … it should be somewhat intuitive …. haven’t these dudes been paying attention to the Wii or games like Gears of War and BioShock which are very intuitive so people can jump right in and have a fun experience. Can you imagine needing a special set of instructions to play Gears and BioShock after they were already released? What a sad statement on their own lack of understanding of basic game design. Make a game that has intuitive and responsive controls and is not over complicated or else be prepared for your game to tank in the market.

    If I were one of those professional reviewers I’d feel my intelligence had been insulted.

    @Evander

    Absolutely. I would re-review this game and give it a even worse rate, cause of the arrogant attitude towards “dumb” players.
    This is not atom physics, it is just a game. Jesus Christ Factor 5, face the truth, you delivered some bad work and you can’t blandish it anymore.

    Professional Review? LOLz This is one of the best games I have EVER played. In fact I bought Bioshock for my PC and although it’s fun. I haven’t touched it since I got LAIR!!! I’m simply amazed as is anyone that’s now playing the game. How in the world could anyone in their right mind give this 1080P native game anything less than 9.0 is beyond any of us.

    You can go anywhere on the web and see for yourself what people that are buying it think!!!! I put my 61 yr old grandma on the game and she can fly the Dragon! It takes a complete Moron not to be able to fly and play in this game!

    Which most in here sad to say couldn’t play it so maybe you are all related to the these rotten reviewers! LOLz But what should we expect from a bunch of want to be gamers who are stuck on Xbox 360 simon simpleton games! hehe ;)

    Four pages of positives from people playing the game. Not because they want to prove it is flawed or bad like these reviewers!

    All I can say is only time will tell if what we people who are actually playing the game because we want to think of it!

    Sure you can fake it and lie about it as many are already doing, but the truth always wins in the end. It did the last generation!!!! It will this one as well, because the doesn’t come from haters. It comes from the people that actually play games to enjoy them! ;)
