BioShock Very Successful, May Employ GTA Release Cycle

bioshock_027.jpgThere is no doubt BioShock was a successful release for 2K Games, but just how successful was it? “One of the fastest-selling games in history,” says 2K Games’ chairman Strauss Zelnick. It has also been extremely popular on Xbox Live, making its demo the best-performing one in a nine day period, outperforming every other demo released on the service.

Unfortunately (or fortunately, whichever way you see it), he hinted that they might adopt the two-year release cycle for the Grand Theft Auto series for future BioShock titles. While this is good news for gamers who wish to experience the city of Rapture sometime soon, it will be very hard to deliver the quality and storyline of the game once again. Though a sequel may be in development right now, it may possibly not employ the aforementioned release cycle.

In related news, the game has become the highest-ranked Xbox 360 title on Metacritic.
