Wii Officially Overtakes Xbox 360 In Sales

September 13th, 2007 Posted in Business, PlayStation 3, Wii, Xbox 360

A lot of unofficial numbers have been flying around from a lot of sites lately, suggesting that the Wii has overtaken the Xbox 360 in global sales. This time though, the mighty Financial Times are reporting that the Wii has indeed overtaken the 360; The Wii has sold 9 million units, Xbox 360 8.9 million, and the PS3 3.7 million. Since this comes from the Financial Times, you can bet that the numbers are pretty accurate. This is the first time in 17 years that Nintendo has the lead, way back in the NES and SNES days.

Yah for the Wii60 … of course these two are the best systems … Sony killed itself with that ridiculous price tag and lack of good games and they just seem completely unable to recover.

Nintendo was the joke in the game business in the last couple of years in the conslole market and sony was the top dog, now look at sony.

It happens, remember when Sega was a big name in console gaming? Now look at them, their flagship character is now on Nintendo systems.

  4. Evander Says:

I think maybe got cocky because they were on top for so long

  5. STD Says:

It’s really great that Nintendo is back on top of the gaming world. Wii60 is the way to go. 360’s got a decent line up of games (including the brilliant BioShock). With Halo3, Smash Brawl, and Mario Galaxies coming out this holiday season, the 360 and Wii’s numbers will only rise. Sony has 2 step it up or else the PS3 (and PSP for that matter) will go down like Sega.

  6. Leezo Says:

And lets not forget metroid prime 3
